What is Spiritual Intelligence (SQ)?
Definition (from Danah Zohar and Ian Marshall' s book "Spiritual Intelligence")
Spiritual Intelligence is the ability to find meaning, purpose and values in our life, connecting our  actions and lives to a wider, richer, meaning-giving context.

Why is Spiritual Intelligence so important?
Research results show that the ability to find meaning in life is a necessary foundation for discovering the true and lasting happiness, which gives us a life of deep satisfaction.This happines is not momentary and limited  like the happiness from sensory pleasures  such as eating chocolate. Moreover, it is internal and depends only on us. The more we contribute to our environment, the more we discover meaning in our lives.This is because we are creating value and meaning by using our life skills to give happiness to other people. A good example is the real story, told by Martin Seligman (one of the leading researchers in the field of happiness) about a hospital orderly who gave meaning to his unglamorous job- crafting it into a calling -by choosing beautiful pictures to hang on the wall in front of the patients' beds, so that they would see beauty when they woke up. He didn't see his job as a cleaner but as somone who was responsible for the health of the patients.

When do we use our Spiritual Intelligence?
We use our spiritual intelligence to weigh alternative courses of action in order to decide which life-path is more meaningful for us.It's a mode of thinking we use to create and change our patterns of thought.Spiritual Intelligence is the intelligence of our soul, that doesn't depend on a particular culture or religion. We can use it to heal ourselves of the sicknesses of modern life that results from a lack of meaning and the erosion of values. Life Coaching can help us identify our existing values and help us discover which new values   suit us.

The Charecteristics of Spiritual Intelligence
* Self-awareness: knowing ourselves, our beliefs , values and what really motivates us.
* Deep gratitude for everything we have received in life and everyone who has helped us.
* An ability to forgive others who have hurt us and an ability to apologise when we hurt others.
*The ability to be flexible and spontaneous - to adapt and react to a reality which changes from moment to moment.
* The virtue of being inspired by vision and values - letting our vision lead us and acting in accordance with our principles and values.
* Holism: being able to see larger patterns, relationships and the connections betwen things.Having a sense of belonging to humanity, the community of life and the entire universe.
* Compassion: deep empathy
* Celebrating Diversity - to respect and value other people and life-forms for their differences.
* A tendency to "Field Independence"- standing up for one's own .convictions and being able to go against the crowd

The Aim of Spiritual Intelligence is to teach us the Art of Life.The art of life is the application of our creativity in all areas of our life.  In fact, our life is a unique work of art.Nobody else has written this story . Only we can write the script of our lives. Nobody else has exactly the same past as us, our karma, our challenges and obstacles.When we learn to create insight into the essence of our lives we discover our true identity as enlightened and inwardly happy beings so we will be able to reach a state where we appreciate each day as sacred.
